Deadline

Domestic applications for the Spring 2024 semester (beginning January 8, 2024), are due December 8th. Applications for a Fall 2023 start are now closed.

Prerequisites

Applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Digital Mapping are required to hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited U.S. Institution, or an international credential deemed equivalent to a four-year bachelor's degree.  Please contact us directly for the MS application requirements.

Application Materials

Applicants will be required to provide:

  1. A transcript from their bachelor degree-granting institution.
  2. A non-refundable $65 application fee ($75 for international applicants)
  3. TOEFL or IELTS score (international applicants only). Minimum scores are listed on the graduate school's admission page.

GRE scores are not required for admissions to the graduate certificate.

Once the application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the Director of New Maps Plus, who will notify the graduate school of their admissions decision. The student will then be notified of the decision and provided with further instructions for enrollment in courses. If you have questions about admissions criteria and the review process please contact us.

Costs

The 2023-24 Academic Year cost per credit hour for our part-time online Digital Mapping students is $775 in tuition and mandatory fees, plus $10 per credit in distance learning fees. Thus the MAP 671 course (3 credits) costs $2,355 and the MAP 672/673/674 courses (4 credits) cost $3140 each.  Tuition for the subsequent academic years (starting each Fall) are determined over the summer.

Financial Aid

In order to qualify for federally subsidized student loans one must be an official degree seeking student. This means that students enrolled in the graduate certificate in Digital Mapping are not eligible for federal loans.

However, many employers offer tuition payment and reimbursement programs and we encourage you to check with your place of employment. We have prepared a document to help present your case for educational financial sponsorship to your employer if needed (Word doc | PDF). You can also visit the University of Kentucky’s Financial Aid Office webpage for information on Alternative Loans.

The State Approving Agency for Veterans Education has approved the graduate certificate and M.Sc. in Digital Mapping for veteran benefits payment. Please contact Amy Southwood (amy.southwood@uky.edu) at the UK Veteran's Resource center with any questions.

State Authorization (NC-SARA)

The University of Kentucky is authorized to provide both the Graduate Certificate and Master of Science in Digital Mapping programs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Billing

Students will be billed by Student Account Services and any financial questions should be directed to that office.
